Lord Ganesha is honored at the outset of rituals and ceremonies as the deity of beginnings. During writing sessions, Ganesha is often worshipped as a patron of letters and study. Several writings provide legendary stories about his origin and deeds, as well as explaining his unique iconography. Ganesha developed as a separate god during the Gupta period in the 4th and 5th century AD, while inheriting characteristics from Vedic and pre-Vedic forerunners. In Hindu mythology, he is identified as the Shaivism tradition’s restored son of Parvati and Shiva, although he is a pan-Hindu god found in different Hindu faiths. Ganesha is the ultimate god in Hinduism’s Ganapatya tradition. The Ganesha Purana, the Mudgala Purana, and the Ganapati Atharvashirsa are the three most important scriptures about Ganesha. Other Puranic genre encyclopedic works that deal with Ganesha include the Brahma Purana and the Brahmanda Purana.
